To encourage and cultivate positive participation in band activities by all students, parents and other individuals or groups interested in developing the quality of band programs.

Mr. Christopher Vaughn is the Director of Bands at Forrest High School. He is currently in his 8th year of teaching. Mr. Vaughn began his teaching career in Jackson, Tennessee. He began his interim music education placement at University School of Jackson. Mr. Vaughn conducted 6th-12th grade bands as well as teaching various other music classes. Mr. Vaughn previously conducted at Bolivar Middle School’s and Central High School two instrumental programs and three chamber ensembles. Those programs included marching band, concert band, jazz band, parade band, percussion ensemble, etc. In addition to his work as band director, Mr. Vaughn is a freelance trombonist and teaches private trombone lessons. Previously, Mr. Vaughn was the band director at Lexington Middle School where he also taught General Music and 6th-8th Grade Band. In the summer, Mr. Vaughn travels to attend music education professional developments. During his years at Bolivar Middle School and Central High School, the program has grown in numbers every year aligning with quantity and quality. The Bolivar Middle School program stride in excellence by receiving straight superior rankings at the WTSBOA Concert Festival and getting an invitation to the Tennessee Music Education Association State Concert Festival. Mr. Vaughn was invited to attend to the 2016 Midwest Music Education Conference has a recognized educator for his works at Bolivar Middle School and Central High School.
Mr. Vaughn studied music education with Dr. Fred Spano and Kenneth Douglas and received a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from University of Tennessee at Martin. In 2016, Mr. Vaughn enrolled in Freed Hardeman University to pursue his Instructional Leadership in Administration.
While in the Hardeman County area, Mr. Vaughn attends Dixie Hills Baptist Church and performs regularly with the Worship team. Mr. Vaughn collaborates with the other music educators to raise the excellence and instruction in Hardeman County.
Mr. Vaughn is a current member of the Middle Tennessee School Band and Orchestra, Tennessee Music Education Association, Tennessee Education Association, National Education Association, Jazz Education Network, National Band Association, National Association for Music Education, Percussive Arts Society, and International Trombone Association.
